It includes the 5 physiographic types of mangroves that exist in PR:
Islotes de Mangle - activities related to their aesthetic value, refuges and breeding places of species and protection of the coast, scientific research and limited passive recreation
Mangroves of the Edge - limited production of wood by authorization of the DNER; passive recreation facilities that do not interfere with the ecological balance or its natural functioning; scientific studies; fishermen's piers with stilts; do not cut or fill the mangrove
Dwarf or Stunted Mangroves - for scientific studies only
Riparian Mangroves - production of wood, firewood and bark for tannin by authorization of the DNER; scientific studies
Mangroves of Cuenca - production of wood, firewood and bark for tannin by authorization of the DNER; scientific studies
Passive recreation that does not involve cutting, filling or dredging the mangrove, salt systems and associated mudflats
